Problem:  My Atlanta Based Systems Unix Server Dental Application gives me the following error when I login:

“Fatal I/O Error PC=890 E=74”.

Solution:

This error is the result of the system being shutdown while certain programs are open. How you clear this error depends upon your operating system.

1. DOS/WINDOWS systems – Bring the system down and go to a C prompt. Change directories to the run directory using the following command. cd\run and press Enter.

2. UNIX systems – Bring the system down to a # (must be logged in as root to run fixes). Change to the run directory. cd /u/run and press Enter.

At this point you should be in the run directory. Use the following command to clear the error – icfixup abf01abs and press Enter. When the fix is completed, it will return to a system prompt. Bring the system up and at a selection type in AB648. The system will show Check files for company ID and verify case invoice numbers. Hit enter at each question. The program will begin to check all system files to insure file integrity. If the system stops on a file, this means the file needs to be fixed.
