Solution:

Ensure Server and/or PC to be accessed has a valid Internet IP address or port forwarding on your firewall is on for the following ports for :

3389 (RDP) to Server or directly to PC
80 (http) to Server or directly to PC
4125 (Remote Workplace) Required when going through Server to local LAN desktop or server.

For the Server/PC select “System Properties” (Accessible by right clicking “My Computer” and selecting “Properties”, or via “System” in the “Control Panel”), select the “Remote” tab.

Place a check in the box labeled “Allow users to connect remotely to this computer”.

You may also at this point select which users on the XP PC are granted remote access.

Test by logging on to the remotely through a web browser from another computer. Go to http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/remote if the PC is accessed through the Server. Where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address of the computer running remote desktop or the domain name if DNS is setup for the IP address. You can also use the Remote Dekstop Connection.
