Problem: How do I change the Service Username or Service Password in Veritas Backup Exec?

Solution:

  1. Create a network share to the NT subdirectory of the Backup Exec installation directory if one does not exist already. Use the share name BENT. Ensure the share is unshared after this procedure.
  2. From within the Backup Exec installation directory, run BEATTACH.EXE. The BEATTACH SAN Shared Storage Option Utility window appears.
  3. Enter the name of the database server in the ADAMM Server Name field. This is usual the same name as the WIndows NT server.
  4. Enter the name of the Share on the database server (This is the share created in Step 1,). (By default, the Share is named BENT.)
  5. Click Add The names of the server is added to the Backup Exec Servers to Modify list.
  6. Click Configure Services. The Advanced Service Configuration window appears.
  7. If changing the username and/or password, click Change service account information.
  8. Enter the new user name in the User field, and press <Tab>.
  9. Enter the domain name in the From field, and press <Tab>.
  10. Enter the new password in the Password field.
  11. If changing the services startup type, click Change services startup type.
  12. Select the startup type. Options are:
  13. Automatic (Default)
  14. Manual
  15. Disabled
  16. Click OK, and then click Apply.
  17. Unshare the share created in step 1.
